Lockdowns a Thing of the Past: Stefanson

WINNIPEG — A re-elected PC government commits to no more lockdowns for Manitobans, PC Leader Heather Stefanson announced today.

“We learned a lot during the difficult days of the COVID-19 pandemic,” Stefanson said. “Being kept apart during the good times and the bad, missing our family and friends and having businesses struggling—we can’t go back to that. I want Manitobans to know for sure, that under our PC Team, lockdowns are a thing of the past.”

Country-wide polling showed that mental health issues skyrocketed during COVID—with 54% of Canadians in a 2022 Angus Reid poll indicating that their mental health worsened last year. Gyms, recreation centres, places of worship, and community gathering spaces locking down added to the feelings of distress.

“As we turn the page, our PC Team wants Manitobans to continue doing what we all love about the province we call home—celebrating and spending time with our family and loved ones,” Stefanson added.

The provincial election will be held on October 3rd, 2023.
